Chinese and Nepalese Leaders Exchange Condolence Messages over Border Debris‑flow Disaster

Beijing, August 29. A severe debris‑flow disaster struck the China‑Nepal border area around Gyirong‑Rasuwa Port, causing casualties, missing persons and property losses on both sides. National leaders of China and Nepal have exchanged condolence messages concerning the catastrophe.

In the condolence message, Chinese leaders expressed profound grief over the victims of the disaster and sincere sympathy to bereaved families, the injured and people in disaster‑hit regions. Noting that China and Nepal are linked by mountains and rivers with a shared future, China is fully engaged in search‑and‑rescue operations, medical treatment and resettlement of affected residents.
