Mandalay, August 30. As a vital hub city of the Southern Silk Road, the Silk Road Chamber in Mandalay recently held a Buddhist chanting‑praying ceremony. Co‑hosted by the Myanmar Culture and Arts Association and Myanmar Belt and Road Development Co., Ltd., the event invited Buddhist monks to perform religious chants, praying for regional peace and harmony, prosperous trade and smooth people‑to‑people exchanges across the Silk Road regions.

Mandalay has long served as a key pivot on the Southern Silk Road, witnessing trade links and civilizational integration between China, Myanmar and other countries along the route for centuries. Inheriting Myanmar’s traditional Buddhist culture, the ceremony drew participants from all walks of local society. Through Buddhist rituals, participants expressed sincere wishes for regional stability and non‑governmental friendship.

Organizers stated that the Silk Road Chamber will function as a platform for grassroots exchanges. Respecting local cultural traditions, it will further advance people‑to‑people interactions along the Southern Silk Road, consolidate the foundation of people‑to‑people bonds, and contribute to deeper China‑Myanmar friendship and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
